Pan Arab CBR/CBID Training

Build the capacity of Comunity Based Rehabilitation (CBR) stakeholders in the Arab region, and create a new general understanding of Community Based Incusive Development (CBID), community services and community participation, based on exchanging experiences between stakeholders and CBR field workers : managers of CBR programs, professionals from medical, social, and educational backgrounds, policy and decision-makers, professionals who intend to start CBR programs, persons with disability and their family members. Location: Egypt , Jordan , Lebanon, Syria. Year: from 1999 - to date. Partner: Organized by SETI Center .Partners Women Council UK, Save the Children UK, Higher Council for Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Jordan, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN ESCWA), National Council for Persons with Disabilities in Egypt.

Training in the Arab Region

The combined efforts of all members of the team enable SETI to provide services that are considered unique, both in Egypt and in the Arab World, reaching thousands of beneficiaries not only in more than 20 governorates in Egypt, but also in other Arab countries such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Syria, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia, etc.

Regional dialogue on issues related to community rehabilitation / inclusive community development in the Arab world (5 Virtual online dialogues)

The dialogues aimed to facilitate joint learning and exchange experiences among participants, focusing on best practices in Community-Based Rehabilitation and Inclusive Community Development (CBR/CBID), particularly in the context of COVID. The discussions informed planning for the postponed CBR/CBID conference in 2023 and the World Disability Summit in February 2022. Topics included assessing the contribution of CBR/CBID to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Sustainable Development Goals, exploring intersectionality in CBR/CBID, and identifying areas for improvement. The dialogues involved participants from six Arab countries, including government agencies, NGOs, and individuals with various disabilities. The goal was to produce an analytical report documenting discussions, experiences, and points for further development. Key topics discussed included intersectionality, community-level support, financial well-being, livelihoods, work, poverty alleviation, and innovations in CBR. Location: Virtual online dialogues.
